Operation Nehemiah:

Equipping Haiti to Rebuild

WBOCI has been investing in war-torn, disaster-struck, impoverished areas

of instability around for the world for more than a decade. We’ve learned to effectively equip

and engage the local populations to rebuild their communities. Inspired by His actions in

the book of Nehemiah, we know that God alone can bring renewal from the rubble.

Nehemiah of the Bible:

The Old Testament book of Nehemiah tells the story of the restoration of

God’s people in the wake of destruction. The people of Israel had been conquered,

exiled, and living enslaved to their captors. Nehemiah, heartbroken by the news that

the walls and gates of Jerusalem had

been destroyed, prayed to the Lord and petitioned the king of Persia to allow

Groups and families took on sections of the wall together, each building

the piece right in front of their homes. Knowing that the wall would provide security for their family, they felt a sense of identity and

connection with the work they did. Though the wall was enormous and their numbers relatively few, the wall was rebuilt in an astonishing

52 days.

Nehemiah’s inspired vision was to see the people of the region equipped

and empowered to rebuild the foundation of the nation.  We know that

the awe-inspiring God of Nehemiah is the same God who will raise Haiti

from the rubble and we are passionate to follow the example in His

We are hiring local Haitians to reconstruct their community and build 5

new Church Orphan Homes. The daily wage will not only provide an

income for their families, but the

much-needed resources to jump-start rebuilding of

their own futures.
